Understanding Bird Language with Chris Holland

April 23, 2023 at 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

£90.00

When you are still & practice deep listening, Nature emerges.

Join Chris Holland for this one off day in the woods to gain knowledge and experience that will last a lifetime, knowledge that you can pass down the generations. This is a 7 hour experience with almost half of it is spent sitting and listening along with a mixture of storytelling, deep listening, artistic activity, active games and discussion around the hearth.

It’s for people who simply want to know more about birds and what we can learn from observing their activity and listening to their calls, to outdoor educators who want professional development to enable them to pass on the knowledge and practices to their students.

Bird song and calls can be very confusing. By learning to identify the 5 main voices of birds we can rise above the confusion of individual species calls and understand the general soundscape and learn to read the language of nature more deeply. We will also be learning…

  • how to calm our minds so wildlife comes near
  • which bird is making what sound and why
  • what to prick up your ears for.
  • how to tell the wind direction from a perching bird
  • how to know which predators are around from the way birds move
  • how we can transfer these skills to other parts of our lives

Understanding bird language and behaviour can not only be incredibly useful for spotting wildlife, it is also a wonderful doorway to mindfulness. With your senses awakened to the moment, the healing power of being present and the vibration of birdsong can be very uplifting as well as helping you feel more at home in your mind and body.
