Food Safety in the Great Outdoors
October 4, 2019 at 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
£84.00The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering has been designed to address the food safety needs of the catering and hospitality sector
As Forest School Leaders, Children`s workers, Scouts, Guides, voluntary helpers, food handlers, employee`s etc… this training is good for you as you have a legal responsibility to keep your children and young people safe when preparing food. The qualification is designed to give all food workers an appreciation of good food hygiene practice.
The training is run by Sarah Blake of Blake Training, who has been training in food safety for 30 years and specialises in `Food Safety in the Outdoors` with a programme she developed initially with Lantra Awards. As well as the recognised Qualsafe Level 2 qualification certificate, you will also receive a certificate of attendance which personalises your accreditation even more with emphasis on cooking outdoors in the woodland environment demonstrating your training is appropriate to outdoor cooking.
Topics will include:
· Importance of Food Safety in the woods incorporating HACCP
· Microbes – Where are they “lurking”? · Illnesses linked to food and the outdoors
· Hygiene Control – Temperature control, Storage, Handling, Preparation, Cooking, Equipment
· Personal Hygiene
· Food Safety Control – planning a HACCP relevant to your practice.
A multiple choice test will conclude at the end of the course. After successful completion candidates will receive a certificate from the CIEH and a ‘Blake Training’ certificate, personalising the additional outdoor food safety topics covered
The aim of the day is to combine the theory of food safety with the practical skills of cooking lunch in the outdoors developing good practice guidelines in hopefully a fun, interactive manner.
We will be out in the woods all day, please remember to dress appropriately for weather conditions and wear sensible footwear.
We do have compost loos and parking on site.
